Descripción - This is a PLAY SCRIPT. The plot concerns the first six months of Hernan Cortes' invasion of Mexico in 1518. From the time of Pedro de Alvarado's return from an expedition to Central America, through Cortes' appointment as leader of another expedition, to the end of the first major battle between Europeans and Indians (Maya) on American soil. I have followed the story line of the actualities closely, reimagined some of the key encounters of Cortes and other people in dialogue scenes. Cortes managed to get himself selected as leader of the 3rd expedition to the mainland of what is now Mexico. But the man who selected him, the governor of Cuba, went back on the appointment. Tried to have him stopped at different towns down the Cuban coast. But, he had suppporters in each town who blocked the governor's orders. Eventually, in Havana, got enough supplies to sail west. Immediately hit a storm in which the fleet of 11 ships was dispersed. But, they reformed on the island of Cozumel. Trained the recruits and sailed on up the Mexican coast. In a Mayan towen of Cintla met opposition when trying to trade for food and water. A battle ensued, in which the Spanish were victorious. All this is dramatized. So the works are 'Faction'. There are 2 other versions currently 'up' on Kindle . You might like to buy them as well. I have rewritten the script 12 times. 6 in prose throughout and 6 in prose and blank verse. Although the same events occur in each scene and the same ideas/thoughts/attitudes are expressed, they are expressed differently in each version. A JAZZ concept applied to writing plays - 'different versions on a 'standard'. This, as far as I am aware, is a new departure for play writing. It having been the norm, internationally, for writers to write just ONE version of each play and have that ONE version performed (if accepted). This norm was first introduced in about 600 B.C. and is in widespread use today in theatre, film TV and radio drama.
